I can’t get enough of Chopstick & Johnjon‘s latest EP Versions. The track Listen from the EP has been one of my top tracks of 2012 so far, so was pretty excited to see they have done a new podcast for Suol Records. It’s an hour of some great house & disco. Starts off slow and builds up. Nice! Also, if you haven’t heard Listen, then check it out below.
Anyway, here is 4 juicy house tracks to get us going again. New on the scene, LA based producer Taylor Freels, better known as Urulu, released his first EP Across The Sky on Exploited this March. The 3 track EP was a comfortable blend between old school house sensibilities and modern soul. Now Urulu is back with a new 4 track-EP on Exploited called Sincerely 91. It’s top notch, cool 90s inspired house tracks. Yes!
If you want to get up to speed on some top releases in deep house, tech & techno, then this 2 hour mix from Noir is pretty damn good. I like a lot of what’s coming out of the label and these mixes always reflect some of the top tunes you will hear out in clubs. In this mix we’ve got a load of new unreleased material, including Maxxi Soundsystem and Thomas Gandey new track called I Dont Care – it’s going to be big!
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Sunday Chill post, and it’s much needed this weekend! The sun is finally out in London, although I’m still wishing I was back in Croatia. Peter Leung, the London based DJ, played a sublime, sunshine set on Saturday afternoon at the Garden Festival. It helped my hangover at the time, and it’s helping my hangover now! Nice.
I’ve heard this track out & about a few times now and loved it every time. Rodriguez Jr, the French producer/DJ delivers on the 095 on Mobilee Records with a 4-track release titled Muppet Anthem. The self-titled number delivers an array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer. Nice!
Jupiter is a French-English duo based in Paris, who have been creating waves in the disco and electro-funk circles for a while now. Having dropped a full length album, Juicy Lucy, they are taking their vibes across the water to the US, and here is the mix to celebrate. Plus, a remix of Midnight Magic’s, Calling Out. Nice!
This submission came in today from Mexican based record label Vicario Musique. The release is by Alex Kaddour originally from the Canary Islands and now based in Spain. His sets & original productions mainly draw influence from underground house with a crossover of funk and deep sexy beats! This is a 4 track release of Luxemburgo & My History, in which Kaddour calls in some friends to create a various mix of underground groovy sounds. Nice!
1. Luxemburgo ft. Isaac Silva
2. My History ft. Adrián Rodríguez & Dania
3. Luxemburgo (James Teej remix)
4. Luxemburgo (Alex Kaddour Remix remix)
Vinyl release out now, digital release out soon.
Osbourne & Anderson from Birmingham, UK are two very experienced DJ/producers who are part of the Made To Play family. They have a sound that incorporates Chicago, Techy and Deep House, and this mix for Made To Play pretty much summarises this. The mix is, in part, to celebrate the release of their latest work – Need A Drink / Space Funk, which dropped earlier this month. Need A Drink is pretty damn catchy with it’s looped vocals and slamming baseline. Great mix, listened to it twice today! Enjoy.
