Griffin James, aka Francis Inferno Orchestra, doesn’t need much introduction, having created a whirlwind of attention due to his slick productions. I still play his ‘Meet Me In Salt Lake City’ EP a lot. So pretty excited to see 3 brand new tracks coming out in July on FINA. I’ve included two below – the first, ‘Silk & Smoove’ is a super smooth, super sexy disco groover. The second named ‘Here’s To Feeling Good All The Time’ is a heavier house number with a solid baseline and pure NY 90s vibe throughout. Lovely lovely stuff.
After a big debut on Hot Creations with ‘Games’, released in November last year, Infinity Ink are back with ‘Infinity’ on Crosstown Rebels. ‘Infinity’ is an incredibly hooky slice of underground house, which encompasses elements of garage and a monstrous disco bass line. I played this at a BBQ party on Saturday night, and it really got people going. Sure to be a big summer hit.
After the massive success of ‘Entrance Song’, Eats Everything is back with his latest EP ‘Jagged Elbow’. He steps into slightly different territory here, but fear not, the bass still rules, giving it overall a deeper vibe. The second track ‘This Elbow’ is a perfect after hours number. The release dropped today on Pets Recordings and you can grab your copy here.
Zombie Disco Squad were raised from the dead in 2006. Starting out as DJs, their Zombie Disco Squad parties across east and west London quickly became the thing of legend. Things have changed since those days with Lucas Hunter recently departing the Zombies and leaving Nat Self as the last Zombie standing. Whilst the line up may have altered the philosophy has not; Nat’s sound is inspired by everything from classic house, ghetto tech, disco and hip hop. First single ‘Righteous Sound’, featuring 80s soul legend Omar, highlights Nat’s flair for classic house music. This new album ‘Brains’ dishes up classic raw house moments like ‘Twerk’ primed for the dancefloor and subtle electronic movers like ‘Dedication’. All together ‘Brains’ is an assault on the senses; one you want repeated again and again. Give the album teaser a spin below & it’s out today, so go grab your copy here.
Here is a deliciously track called ‘Lunar’ from Classixx’s Tyler Blake under his Fingerpaint guise, which uses a sample from Arthur Russell’s ‘This Is How We Walk On The Moon’. Give it a play and let it take you to another place & time!
Sorry for the lack of blogging over the weekend, but the sun has finally come out in London and we’ve been enjoying temperatures up to 28 degrees. So sitting behind a laptop blogging wasn’t the first thing on my mind! Instead, I’ve been listening to quite a lot of music out in the park and here is three great mixes to take you through the summer days.
This mix is the perfect start to any summers day, packed with downtempo edits including Bill Withers ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’. This helped my hangover yesterday! Thanks to Disco Tech from Sweden for this one.
Pure disco house joy from Chris Jylkke up next. He just dropped this mixtape yesterday and got us all dancing at the BBQ! Plenty more of these mixes over on his soundcloud.
As the sun starts to set and the beers start flowing, Rambla Boys help us get grooving with a super selection of deep, disco house. I’ve been playing the 8th track in the mix - ‘Infinity Ink’, on repeat all weekend!
I posted about the infamous Black Jukebox series a few weeks back, which is on its 3rd outing and has already become heavy collector items. Now Shir Khan is about to launch a new series on his label Exploited entitled ‘Secret Gold’. The mini-compilation-series will include tracks from their extended family members, friends & unheard remixes. First compilation features Bubba, Huxley and Daniel Solar. Check out this little preview.
Another month and another magic tape from the one and only The Magician. The delicious disco vibes come just in time for a hot weekend in London. Nice! No tracklist as always, but he kicks of with Flight Facilities new tune and leads into some new & unreleased numbers.
