Well well well, it’s Monday and London has only decided to go and have a nice day when I’m stuck in the office. Typical! But with the sun now out, it’s getting me excited for the summer and how glad I was to see Jupiter drop their remix of Sebastien Telier’s Cochon Ville. This has classic Jupiter remix written all over it, with a cool Summer vibe and adding a freshness to the solid original. Nice!

Something quite different from Plastic Plates, a mix for The White Light mix series. It’s a series about music & space, giving the music room to breathe – it’s not about a mix of everything trendy that can fit onto a mixtape, but one that’s paced to give each tune its shine, where the music is the focus and the mixing is an effortless complement. It’s a very impressive collection, from many great producers & DJs. 55th in the series comes from Felix Bloxsom aka Plastic Plates, which takes us on an interesting journey through various different tracks which have influenced him over the years. Perfect Sunday listening.

Man Like Me are the Camden Town duo Johnny Langer and Peter Duffy. Their latest single ‘Squeeze’ is getting a lot of attention and comes off the newly set up Beats label run by former lead vocalist of The Streets, Mike Skinner.  It’s a little camp – but also extremely catchy. It bounds along with vibrant beats, synths and strange sounds that appear out of nowhere. If this doesn’t make you smile then you’re probably dead! You can also check out the video below, which sees the London duo clad in zombie-like makeup swanning around an abandoned estate. Surreal but fun, just like the track!

House of disco is on fire at the minute! Their last EP ‘On the latch’, which we blogged about a few weeks back, has been topping both the vinyl and download charts on Juno. Plus they have a massive sold out night coming up this Friday in London, playing host to Tiger & Woods, Wolf Music & Rayko. I can’t wait!

Not stopping there, they plough forward with this 4th release, ’Busy Tone’ EP, inviting 1 old friend and 3 new housemates into the fold. OOFT!, Daniel Solar & Andi De Luxe, Late Nite Tuff Guy and one of our favourite producers at the minute, Debonair. Released on 7th May, but until then, you can check out snippets below.

Right, now it’s time for a big mug of tea & a fry ;-) Happy Sunday!

This morning I discovered Black Jukebox presented by Shir Khan. I think this might be my best find in a long time! A born and bred Berliner, Shir Khan started Exploited in his home city in 2007. Exploited Rec now plays host to some wide-ranging and innovative electronic talent – including Homework, Joyce Muniz, Shir Khan (to name a few) – and its artists have been receiving numerous supportive spins from the likes of Soul Clap, Azari & III, Jesse Rose, Brodinski and Untold. Pretty impressive stuff.

Shir Khan & Exploited have been dipping their toes into the world of disco edits for just over a year ago now. Along with the label, they started the infamous Black Juckbox series. The first 2 editions have already become heavy collector items with prices going up to €99 at Discogs. And last week, Shir Khan & Exploited reveal the third chapter.

Below is all three chapters, in which you’ll find various contributions all culminating in a journey through deep, house, disco & soul. Over 20 minutes of pure joy. Perfection.

This is what I call a Friday feeling! Kraak & Smaak, the trio of funky disco/house producers from the Netherlands have dropped their second instalment of Kraak Beats. Both great tracks, but out of the two, I’d say ‘This Feeling’ gets me in the mood for the weekend!
